Buchi Recipe or Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball with Ube Filling

Buchi is a fried glutinous rice coated with sesame seeds outside, this is a little bit crispy, chewy and with sweet filling inside.

With the filling, you can add sweet mung beans, peanut filling, custard filling, yema filling or even ube jam filling this is depends on your choice of filling.

This is great snack best serve while it's warm and match with your coffee or tea.

Buchi Recipe with Ube Filling

Ingredients:

  • 250 g glutinous rice flour
  • 1 Tbsp wheat starch
  • 60 g white sugar
  • 200 ml boiling water
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 2 cups ube jam for filling
  • 1 cup sesame seeds for coating
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  • Ube jam filling scoop jam make 16 pieces of round ball around 1-inch size set aside
  • To make the dough, combine all the ingredients and knead until well combined.
  • Dough should be easy to handle, divide into 16 portions.
  • Wrap each ube ball with a portion of dough, form it into around.
  • Dip some water and coat with sesame seeds.
  • Heat oil, deep fry on a medium heat until golden brown.
  • Remove, and drain well.
  • Serve while it’s warm.
