Hawaiian Pineapple Pork - Pork Hamonado Recipe
Hawaiian pineapple pork or pork hamonado this is another quick and easy recipe for the whole family. Simmer pork in pineapple juice and this dish taste delicious match with your special garlic rice.
We call this in the Philippines pork hamonado is a sweet dish cooked in pineapple juice with soy sauce, vinegar and oyster sauce. If you like a little bit sweeter, additional sugar can be added to this recipe.
For this recipe all you need is pork, tin of chunk pineapple, carrots, chopped onion and garlic.
How to Cook Hawaiian Pineapple Pork
Ingredients
- 1 medium red onion chopped
- 5 gloves minced garlic
- 1 kg pork shoulder slice into cubes trim the skin
- 1 medium size carrot peeled and slice diagonally
- 1 tin 432 grams pineapple chunk
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 5 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 3 tbsp oil
- 3 pieces bay leaf
- pepper corn
Instructions
- Mix together oyster sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, pepper and juice of the pineapple in a bowl and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pot over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until softened.
- Add pork pieces fry gently until color turns to medium brown.
- Add in the sauce, bay leaf and a little bit of water if needed stir and cover the pot let it simmer for 20-30 mins.
- Add in carrots and the pineapple chunk cook for another 10-15 mins.
- Taste if you need to add more soy sauce and pepper and turn off stove.
- Serve with rice.
