To make teriyaki sauce just mix 1/2 cup of water and add a tablespoon of cornstarch. Add this to marinade recipe cook in a small saucepan let it simmer over medium heat. And you will have an instant teriyaki sauce which you can use use to any meat, vegetables or to your stir fry.
For a easy and quick teriyaki marinade and sauce you can also use a store bought sauce to your local supermarket.
How to make crispy chicken teriyaki
Ingredients:
- 1 kilo chicken pieces
Teriyaki Marinade:
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup sesame seed, toasted
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl mix together all marinade ingredients. Set aside
- Put the chicken pieces in a large mixing bowl and add the marinade mix well. Cover and let it marinade in your fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 180C (350F).
- Place chicken into prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Turn the chicken and cook for another 20 minutes at 200C (400F) or until crispy and tender.
- Remove from oven. Cover with aluminum foil until serving time.
- Garnish chicken with toasted sesame seeds.
- Serve chicken teriyaki with prepared salad or steamed rice.
To make it more healthy, serve the chicken with a leafy salad with a variety of crunchy bean sprouts, grated carrots, and grated fresh corn. And just add olive oil and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
