3 Ingredients Tempura Prawns

3 Ingredients tempura prawns / shrimp recipe, this is quick and easy to make. I just want to share using an instant tempura batter mix, easy to prepare and delicious better than take away food, with fresh Australian banana prawns this is the best ingredient.

Tempura batter mix are now available to any supermarket located at the Asian aisle. Otherwise you can make it from scratch with 3 ingredients, which I will included below.

Other variety for tempura

Seafood: shrimp, fish, mussel, squid and scallops

Vegetables sliced thinly like: carrots, eggplants, cauliflower florets, zucchini, green beans and mushrooms.

3 Ingredients tempura prawns

Ingredients:

  • 500 g fresh prawns / shrimp, peeled deveined and tail intact
  • 125 g tempura batter mix (Obento brand) see below for other easy tempura recipe
  • 180 ml cold water

Instructions:

  • In a mixing bowl add tempura batter and pour the cold water. Whisk gently do not over mix the batter.
  • Coat the prawns in the batter and deep fry in a hot oil until golden brown.
  • Serve while hot with sweet chili sauce or with your favourite dipping sauce.

How to make easy tempura batter recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour, sifted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup cold water

Instructions:

  • In a medium bowl, slightly beat egg and pour cold water.
  • Add the sifted flour to the egg mixture and mix together, make sure not to over mix the batter.
  • Coat the prawns or any seafood or vegetable of your choice.
  • Deep fry in a hot oil until golden brown.

The best dipping sauce for tempura prawns is sweet chili sauce, sriracha mayo or soy sauce with lemon and sesame oil.

I don't waste the prawn heads. I peeled and coat in a tempura batter and deep fry until golden brown. They are crispy, delicious and very tasty.
